Plan to Achieve Self Support (PASS)
The Plan To Achieve Self Support (PASS) is a Social Security Administration (SSA) program that allows persons with disabling conditions to set aside money for purchases, installment payments and down payments for things like a vehicle, education, or a computer if needed to reach their work goal. If SSA approves the PASS it is not counted towards the resource limits for SSI benefits.
When a person on SSI returns to work, their SSI check is reduced. The money that is taken out of their SSI benefit check could be used in a PASS plan to help them achieve work and education goals! This video gives a brief overview of how this can work.
